Therapy that makes you feel hopeful again

A safe place to heal.

Starting therapy can be scary. I make sure that you feel comfortable and supported from the minute you walk through the door. I believe in the importance of creating a space that is truly inclusive, non-judgmental and safe. We will work together to find hope and tackle life’s challenges, whatever they may be.

An approach that makes sense.

When considering types of treatment, it is important that you find the right fit that works for you. My approach is client-centered and evidenced-based. I utilize traditional talk therapy, as well as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and creative-/play-based interventions.

ALISON HOLT, female therapist in Johnston, Iowa

Hi, I’m Alison! I have been working with children and families for many years and one thing I’ve noticed with almost all of my families is that there was a point at which things shifted and they lost connection with each other. My job is to help you figure out what happened and how to heal as individuals and as a family.

Though I work with children of all ages, I am especially passionate about working with teens and pre-teens. These are some of the most exciting and transformative years of a child’s life, and also some of the most stressful. This also tends to be one of the most strained times in the parent-child relationship. When working with teens, I take a two-pronged approach that involves helping parents better understand their teens and helping teens better understand themselves. When this is achieved, teens and parents can begin to heal…together.

While my specialty is working with children, I also have a passion for helping parents heal so they can be as healthy as possible, not only for their kids, but for themselves. As I like to say: healthy, happy parents, lead to healthier and happier kids.
